2016 KSH Opening Convocation

August 19, 2016

Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi held its Opening Convocation recently at Koaiʻa Gymnasium. The event celebrated the new school year with worship and inspiration. The convocation also introduced this year’s tri-campus spiritual theme: Piha i Ka Lokomaikaʻi – Filled with Grace, taken from Micah 6:8. Messages encouraged students and staff members to do what is pono with aloha and to walk with God in a haʻahaʻa manner.

Joining the kula haʻahaʻa, kula waena and kula kiʻekiʻe (elementary, middle and high schools) were KS Chief Executive Officer Jack Wong and Executive Vice President of Education Dr. Holoua Stender. Also, invited were senior class parents who are embarking on a yearlong journey with their children that will culminate with graduation.

Attendees were treated to the musical talents of nā kumu ʻo kula waena, while keiki kahu from all three schools participated in the worship service honoring Ke Akua, Ke Aliʻi Pauahi and inspiring staff and students to strive for the summit!

Mahalo nui to KSH Senior Administrative Assistant Carol Martin for sharing this story and to KSH Middle School Technology Kumu Kerry Kamisato for capturing these and many other moments of the event. See more photos at http://hawaii.ksbe.edu/middle/convocation2016/.
