KS Kapālama Service Awards 2014

Over 100 members of the KS Kapālama employee ʻohana were recognized for their years of dedicated service at the campus' August 7 Service Awards Program. Four of the staffers had an accumulated 175 years of service between them. Library Assistant Dani Gardner came in at the top this year with 50 years of service to Kamehameha Schools, all at the Kapālama campus. She also was the honorary speaker at this year’s event.

Middle school teachers Wade Inn and Ray Parker were masters of ceremony this year and reminisced about their student days at KS and the memorable teachers that they had back in the day.




Some of Wade and Ray’s recollections about their former teachers, now colleagues, had the staff cracking up.




Poʻo Kula (Head of School) Earl Kim talked about the challenges that face the campus but emphasized that the school is making progress with the combined effort of the staff.




Honorary speaker Dani Gardner talked about her history with Kamehameha Schools, how she became a student, and then how she came to spend almost her entire adult life as an employee at the Kapālama campus. For her, the campus is her home away from home.




Awardees in each category of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years were recognized and honored.




Emcees Inn and Parker decided to spice up the program and began singing the names of the awardees




Alyssa Braffith, a 35-year awardee, got into the spirit of the singing and lit up her phone.




Maryalice Woody, a 20-year awardee, jumped to her feet when her name was called.




Trustee Lance Wilhelm enjoyed the program along with everyone.
