2017 Wai‘anae Coast Keiki Spring Fest

April 10, 2017

Nearly 1,000 community members, collaborators and volunteers took part in the 12th Annual Wai‘anae Coast Keiki Spring Fest on Friday, April 7, at Wai‘anae District Park. The Kamehameha Schools-sponsored event connects Waiʻanae Coast keiki and their parents with educational, developmental, and health service providers in their community, and more than 50 KS employees volunteered at the popular gathering.

The free family fest featured activities for parents and their keiki up to five years old. Parents received information on financial aid, and their keiki had the opportunity to receive hearing and vision screenings and photo I.D. cards. Attendees also won door prizes and took part in interactive displays and presentations, including a bookmobile and demonstrations by the Honolulu Fire Department.

Events like these showcase KS’ goal of contributing to communities’ collective efforts to improve education systems for Native Hawaiian learners by building community partnerships.

Communications Specialist Kyle Galdeira and ‘Ewa Region Project Manager Ileana Ruelas were on hand to document the event.
