The following KS community education programs and services are geared towards teachers:

  • ‘Āina Ulu – connect students with ‘āina-based learning activities through collaborators who manage and conduct eco-cultural education on Kamehameha Schools’ agricultural and conservation lands.
  • Kahua – supporting new teachers through culturally relevant, place-based, and community mentor strategies. Through this unique program offered in partnership with the Hawai‘i State Department of Education, teachers can discover more about Hawaiian culture and customs so they can better connect with their students.
  • Moenahā - a curriculum design toolkit which supports educators in implementing culture-based education to improve educational opportunities for Hawaiian learners while also building capacity of schools and school systems to support implementation of cultural approaches to teaching.
  • A‘o Kumu Distance Learning – KS offers interactive distance learning courses on Hawaiian culture and language. Customized online professional development courses are offered to educators to acquire 21st Century teaching skills with a focus on access, integrating and developing Hawaiian culture-based learning reseources.
  • Kamehameha Publishing – Purchase books and other materials that feature Hawaiian language and culture.
  • Ka Pua Initiative - Kamehameha Schools' long-term commitment to excellent education, strong community and a committed presence on the Wai‘anae Coast.
