Through a partnership between Ke Ali`i Pauahi Foundation, Kamehameha Publishing, University of Hawai`i Press and Bishop Museum Press, Kamehameha alumni, friends and community members were able to donate to the Pu`olo Aloha program that purchased Hawaiian-focused books for children in Hawai`i's Department of Education schools across the state.

"We would like to thank Ke Ali`i Pauahi Foundation and Honsador for the books that will go toward building our school's library," Ka Waihona o Ka Na`auao principal Alvin Parker said.

The Pu`olo Aloha Program has raised almost $10,000 in books during the first phase of its existence.

"Ke Ali`i Pauahi Foundation believes in leveraging new and diverse resources of income to support Kamehameha Schools' educational mission," said Bran-Dee Torres, Development Administrator for the Foundation. "Through programs like Pu`olo Aloha, we're able to accomplish that."

Books bought and donated through the Pu`olo program have also been shipped to Hawai`i, Maui, Moloka`i, Lāna`i and Kaua`i public schools.

Pu`olo Aloha is now moving into its second phase. Donors are able to give to the Foundation's Early Childhood Education and Literacy fund of which proceeds will be set aside to purchase gift cards to Kamehameha Publishing's online store and donated to Hawai`i DOE schools.
