WHO’S ELIGIBLE?
- State of Hawai‘i and continental U.S. high school students attending Department of Education public, private and charter schools or those homeschooled.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS?
- Reliable computer and Internet access.
- Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
WHAT CLASSES ARE OFFERED?
Classes include Hawaiian Culture, Hawaiian History, Hawaiian Pacific Literature, and Hawaiian Leaders Past and Present. Upon successful completion of each course, students earn a semester credit from Kamehameha Schools’ ’Ike Hawai’i Distance Learning Program. Note: Students need to check and obtain approval from individual schools regarding their acceptance of this credit.
A`O MAKUA
Kamehameha Schools is also accepting registration to A’o Makua, an online enrichment program for parents and caregivers, educators and anyone interested in learning more about Hawaiian language and cultural practices. Open to all learners 18 years and older, the program offers monthly online courses that run approximately for three to four weeks.
