Trustee Micah A. Kāne

Micah A. Kāne was appointed Chairman of the Hawaiian Homes Commission and the Director of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands by Governor Linda Lingle in 2003. Kāne is a former Chairman and Executive Director of the Hawai‘i Republican Party, and also served as a government affairs liaison for the Building Industry Association of Hawai‘i. And as a business consultant at the Pacific Business Center, Kāne traveled throughout the South Pacific helping entrepreneurs start businesses.

Kāne is on the boards of various community-based organizations, including the Hawaii Community Foundation, Konishki Kids Foundation, Hawaii Meth Project, Malama Learning Center, Education 1st and the Hawai‘i Judiciary Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Kāne received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Menlo College, where he graduated Cum Laude. Kāne is also a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools. While attending Menlo College, he played both baseball and football, and in 2007, was inducted into the Menlo College Hall of Fame for his efforts on the football field.

Over the years Kāne has been recognized for various awards including the Hawaiian Leader of the Year Award from the Ko‘olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club, Ho‘oulu Leadership Award for Government, Environmental Council Award, Spirit of the Year Award from the Aloha United Way and the Housing Advocate of the Year Award from the Building Industry Association of Hawaii.
