Crystal
Rose has been practicing law since 1982, concentrating primarily
on commercial, real estate, and trust litigation. She is one
of the foundering partners of the law firm Bays, Deaver, Lung,
Rose & Baba, consisting of approximately 20 attorneys
involved in commercial and business litigation, arbitration
and mediation. Ms. Rose has published numerous articles and
taught many law seminars. She also taught construction law
at the University of Hawai`i School of Architecture. She is
past chairperson of the State of Hawai`i Board of Engineers,
Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects; a hearing
committee member of the Disciplinary Board of the Hawai`i
Supreme Court; a member of the Civil Rules Committee for the
First Circuit Court, State of Hawai`i; and a member of the
Hawai`i State Bar and American Bar Associations.
Active
in our community, Ms. Rose is a member and past president
of the Native Hawaiian Bar Association; past board member
of the Native Hawaiian Chapter of Commerce; board member of
the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation; and secretary of the
Boys and Girls Club of Hawai` i.
Ms. Rose,
born and raised on the Big Island, is a 1975 graduate of the
Kamehameha School for Girls. In 1979, Ms. Rose earned her
bachelor's of science degree in psychology and sociology
from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. She is also a
1982 graduate of the University of California, Hastings College
of Law in San Francisco, California.
Ms. Rose
is married to Rick Towill, a contractor/engineer, and they
have two sons: Mark (15) and Ian (12).
