This work-in-progress was initiated by the Research & Evaluation Division of Kamehameha Schools in collaboration with PREL (Pacific Resources for Education & Learning) in response to the Nā Lau Lama Indigenous Assessment Working Group’s recommendation to create a web-based toolkit of resources on indigenous assessment. The site profiles a number of assessments designed from an indigenous perspective. Assessment profiles are organized by region, age group, and content areas. The site also contains an extensive list of print resources and weblinks to guide further, in-depth exploration of indigenous assessment.

While this toolkit seeks to highlight assessments across a broad spectrum of locales, age groups, and content areas, it is by no means exhaustive. We kindly ask for your kōkua to expand the resources available and the body of knowledge about indigenous assessment. By making our work available to each other, we strengthen our individual and collective ability to assess the impact of our programs and services in ways that are respectful and responsive to the participants and communities we serve.
